OSRS Wilderness Money Making Guide: Risk, Routes and Rules — Bils Services

Wilderness money making beyond a single course: which activities pay for the PK risk, how to kit down, and when to leave - with a clear link to the agility specialty guide.

Overview

Wilderness money making is optional danger tax. Sometimes the GE pays you for taking it; sometimes you are funding someone else's loot key. This page is the broad risk framework - bosses, resources, agility and clue steps - not a dare.

For the dedicated course method, read Wilderness Agility money making before your first lap. For Wilderness bosses as PvM, see the Wilderness bosses guide.

If you hate PKers, you do not need this category. The low-risk money guide exists on purpose.

Setup

Setup is risk management: 3/4 or whatever protect rules you play, food, teleport, and no sentimental jewellery.

  1. Decide the activity (agility, boss, chins, resources, clues) and open its Wiki page.
  2. Build the cheapest kit that still completes the activity.
  3. Park expensive gear in the bank on purpose.
  4. Set private / other chat preferences you actually use under stress.
  5. Enter with an exit rule (for example: leave after first serious attack, or after X minutes).

Route and Process

Process is gather value quickly, bank often, never "one more invent" when the world feels wrong.

  1. Enter on a world choice that matches your risk tolerance.
  2. Run the method with constant camera awareness.
  3. Bank or tele when inventory or intuition says so - greed is the PK meta.
  4. After a death, regear cheap and review what you missed before re-entering.
  5. Log whether the session's loot cleared deaths and supplies.

Costs to Subtract

Deaths are a line item, not a surprise. If you do not budget them, you are not doing Wilderness money - you are gambling.

  • Expected kit losses over a week
  • Food, potions and teleport tablets
  • Bounty / skull mistakes if you take fights
  • GE tax on sold loot
  • Emotional tilt leading to worse kits - real cost

How to Calculate Realistic Profit

Net Wildy profit = loot value - supplies - kits lost, over many entries.

  1. Track every death kit value honestly.
  2. Track loot sold from the same period.
  3. Subtract supplies.
  4. If net is negative across a fair sample, the method is not paying you for the risk.
  5. Compare to a low-risk alternative before you "try one more night."

Ironman Relevance

Wildy on iron can be unique loot or resources - HCIM should mostly refuse this category.

Never bring irreplaceable uniques into teachable deaths.

Common Mistakes

The classic donation is best-in-slot "because I need the rates."

  • Skulling accidentally
  • Ignoring multiway hotspots
  • Doing Wilderness agility without the dedicated guide
  • Chasing black chins with a bank kit
  • Tilting into more expensive gear after a death

When to Move On

Exit conditions matter as much as the method itself. Switch when one of these is true:

  • Deaths erase loot across a real sample - switch to low-risk methods.
  • You are angry - logout beats "proving something."
  • A safe method on your account now matches the net after risk.

FAQ

What is the best Wilderness money maker?

The one where your net after deaths stays positive. Agility, bosses and resources all swing - verify live and track deaths.

Is Wilderness Agility worth it?

It can be when you respect the risk. Start with the Wilderness Agility money guide.

Can I make money in Wildy without PvP skills?

You need escape habits more than out-PKing everyone. If you freeze every fight, bring cheaper kits or stay out.

Should HCIM do Wildy money?

Almost never for GP. The downside is the account.

Bottom Line

Wilderness GP must clear kit losses on a ledger, not in a highlight clip. Kit down, bank often, and keep the agility specialty guide one click away if that is your route.

Leaving is a valid money decision.
