OSRS Making Friends with My Arm Guide: Requirements and Walkthrough — Bils Services

Making Friends with My Arm is the Master troll quest after My Arm's Big Adventure. Medium length, 66 Firemaking to start, and Weiss access upgrades that matter for later content.

Overview

Making Friends with My Arm continues the troll comedy arc into something that quietly unlocks serious account tools around Weiss. Master difficulty, Medium length, unboostable 66 Firemaking to begin.

Expect Trollheim travel, awkward social errands for My Arm, and agility/mining moments that punish under-boosted accounts near the level checks. Combat recommendation sits around 65.

If you need icy basalt style travel QOL and Weiss progression for later Mahjarrat or DT2 routes, this quest is infrastructure with jokes attached.

Items to Bring

Pack required items before the first travel segment. Recommended gear is comfort, not a hard gate, unless a fight forces a specific style.

Required

  • Saw
  • Bolt of cloth
  • 5 mahogany planks
  • Cadava berries
  • Bucket of water (obtainable during quest)
  • Rope (obtainable during quest)
  • Pickaxe (obtainable during quest)
  • Hammer (obtainable during quest)
  • Combat equipment (preferably Melee or Ranged)
  • Climbing boots (if not using Trollheim teleports)

Recommended

  • Combat 65
  • A teleport to Draynor Village
  • Access to fairy rings
  • Stamina potions
  • Trollheim teleports
  • A Varrock teleport
  • A Rellekka teleport

Ultimate Ironmen should split heavy deliveries across trips where the Wiki notes that is allowed.

Where to Start

Starting location: Talk to Burntmeat in the Troll Stronghold's kitchen.

Use the travel method that fits your unlocks — games necklace, fairy rings, spirit trees, carpets, or spellbook teleports — and keep a teleport out for deaths during combat sections.

Quest List blurb (paraphrased intent): My Arm, the troll from My Arm's Big Adventure, must embark on another journey of discovery. This time, you'll be escorting him to Weiss, a newly discovered troll town in the far north of the world, so he can share his wisdom cough with the inhabitants, in exchange for learning …

Walkthrough, Stage by Stage

Numbered steps follow the Wiki quick-guide order, rewritten for BILS readers. Dialogue choices that gate progress are called out inline. For puzzle tiles or randomised layouts, use the dedicated puzzles section and the Wiki map if a step still feels unclear.

  1. Starting out. Items required: None. Speak with Burntmeat located in the Troll Stronghold kitchen (stairs to the south after entering).(dialogue: Yes, I'll take your quest. → Okay.), or (dialogue: Carry on → Yes, I'll take your quest. → Okay.) if boosts are being used.
  2. Speak with My Arm located by the herb patch on the roof of the Troll Stronghold (ladder up to the west or Agility shortcut.(dialogue: I'm doing another quest for Burntmeat. → Wolfbone said we should go by sea.)
  3. Speak with Larry (Fairy ring code then run to the transportation symbol on the coast to the north, east of Rellekka)(dialogue: Could I transport My Arm in your boat? → My Arm is a troll.), or (dialogue: Can I transport My Arm in your boat? → My Arm is a troll.) if you no longer have the clockwork book
  4. Speak with Larry again.(dialogue: Can I transport My Arm in your boat?), or (dialogue: Can I transport My Arm in your boat?) if you no longer have the clockwork book
  5. Board the boat.
  6. Troll Diplomacy. Items required: Any pickaxe and rope (both obtainable during this part), Mining and Agility level boost (if necessary). Items recommended: Weight-reducing clothing and stamina potions, a teleport to Draynor Village (at least 2 teleport uses, such as an amulet of glory(2) ), food for failing obstacles. If you did not bring a rope, search the wrecked boat for one. Take a pickaxe too as you'll need it later.
  7. Attempt to mine the cave entrance (do not use your boost yet if you brought one)
  8. Climb up the rockslides nearby (boosting to 68 Agility if necessary), and use a rope on the tree.
  9. Climb the rope and cross the ledge.
  10. Climb the last rockslide and pass the fallen tree.
  11. Speak with Boulder. (dialogue: Wolfbone's sent My Arm from the Troll Stronghold. → I'll be back!)
  12. Sneak in via the broken fence just east. Prepare to run past a lot of angry trolls.
  13. Go south along the city's edge, then west. Once you reach a small alleyway to the north (see image), recover your run energy if necessary.
  14. Run to the bucket spawn and stand there for a moment.
  15. Click on the 'little boulder' just north of you, and right before reaching it, click on the hole all the way to the north to climb down.
  16. Once descended, quickly go south and pass through the narrow gap. DO NOT climb up the ramp.
  17. This acts as a checkpoint once knocked out upon re-entering the gap in the fence.
  18. Note: If you stop moving before the checkpoint, the trolls will catch you and you will spawn outside of the city .
  19. Empty your hands and swim further into the cave while avoiding the first set of trolls' stones.
  20. For the second set of trolls, the final troll will throw rocks, creating stepping stones. When the troll begins throwing, move one tile forward, making a path of 5 stones to the edge of the water. Click one tile toward the cave exit as soon as the throwing animation starts until the path is finished.
  21. If you fail, you will be sent back to just before the second set of trolls.
  22. The rocks don't need to be in a straight line, they only need to go out 5 spaces and be adjacent to each other so that My Arm can cross.
  23. Mine the cave exit (boosting to 72 Mining if necessary).
  24. Speak with Mother.(dialogue: Let's move on with the chat.)
  25. After Snowflake leaves, pick all possible options.(dialogue: Tell him goutweed is delicious. → Tell him how tough Stronghold trolls are. → Tell him to show respect to his daughter. → Tell him you love his daughter!)
  26. Speak with My Arm.(dialogue: Mother wasn't very nice to Snowflake in there. → Snowflake, you seemed to like My Arm. → Odd Mushroom, why are you here with us? → Does Mother respect anything except fighting? → I did some fishing and fetched some stuff.)
  27. The Wise "Dead" Man. Speak with the Wise Old Man in Draynor Village.(dialogue: Ask about My Arm. → Can you pretend you're dead? → You owe me a favour after the Fishing Colony quest.)
  28. Build the coffin next to the Wise Old Man.
  29. Speak to the Apothecary in Varrock.
  30. Chat options depend on the quests the player has completed. Pick "Talk about Making Friends with My Arm."
  31. Speak with the Wise Old Man back in Draynor Village.(dialogue: Ask about My Arm.)
  32. Take the Old man's coffin.
  33. Matricide. Items required: Combat equipment (preferably Ranged), food and potions as they can hit through Prayer, Old man's coffin Return to Weiss by travelling with Larry's boat.
  34. Go through the cave entrance.
  35. Speak with My Arm by the north entrance.
  36. Speak with Odd Mushroom.(dialogue: I'll never leave you.)
  37. Speak with Snowflake.(dialogue: So I can't teleport, and I may lose stuff? Okay.)
  38. Fight Don't Know What. Use Protect from Missiles and damage him with melee or Ranged.
  39. Fight Mother. Activate Protect from Missiles. Grab a bucket from the pile and use it on the large barrel of water. Then use the bucket of water on the Fire of Domination to extinguish it, which then makes your attacks effective. Mother will stun the player and drain some Prayer points if able to get into melee range, therefore it's preferred to fight back with Ranged while running from Mother. He…
  40. A New Leader. Items required: Bucket Speak with My Arm.
  41. Speak with the Wise Old Man, and then Snowflake.(dialogue: What do you want with goat dung?)
  42. Pick up goat poo in the north-east building to get goat dung. (Buckets of water can be found in the building and emptied)
  43. Speak with Snowflake.
  44. Read the Weiss fire notes Snowflake gives you.
  45. Speak with Snowflake.
  46. Finish the closing dialogue — the quest is complete.

If a mid-quest fight sends you to your respawn, return with the same key items — several quests do not store progress for partially completed combat.

Puzzles and How They Work

Puzzle sections in modern quests are often randomised per account. The table below covers the puzzle types you should expect; exact tile solutions belong on the Wiki when they change per player.

Puzzles in this quest

Skip this section emotionally if the quest is combat-only — still skim for any mid-quest door puzzles.

Boss Fights

Common Mistakes and Warnings

My Arm fails are travel and Firemaking gates.

  • Attempting to start under 66 Firemaking.
  • Under-packing staminas for Trollheim and Weiss run segments.
  • Failing rockslide shortcuts repeatedly without food near 68 Agility.
  • Forgetting a pickaxe or rope plan for the dig segments.
  • Treating Master difficulty as a joke quest because the NPC is funny.
  • Skipping My Arm's Big Adventure and bouncing on series requirements.

Ironman Notes

Firemaking 66 is the hard start check — Wintertodt refugees usually already have it.

Bring mining and agility boosts if you are close to the awkward mid-quest levels.

Unlocking better Weiss travel pays for itself on later northern questlines.

FAQ

What does Making Friends with My Arm unlock?

Weiss-related progression and travel QOL that later northern content leans on.

Is 66 Firemaking boostable?

No for starting the quest.

Is the quest actually Master?

Yes — do not confuse humour with low difficulty.

Do I need My Arm's Big Adventure?

Yes.

How long is it?

Medium with good Trollheim teleports; longer if you fail shortcuts cold.

Bottom Line

Bank 66 Firemaking, bring stamina and boosts, and clear My Arm before you need Weiss in a hurry.

Funny quest, serious unlock — worth doing on any mid-to-late progression route.
