OSRS Regicide Guide: Requirements and Walkthrough — Bils Services

Regicide opens Tirannwn properly: dense forest, catapult chemistry, and a long Experienced quest that still deletes under-prepared Agility inventories.

Overview

Regicide is Elf series part four. King Lathas sends you beyond the Well of Voyage to end Tyras — Experienced difficulty, Long length, and the practical unlock for western Tirannwn travel.

You will re-traverse Underground Pass knowledge, then deal with dense forest obstacles, poison risks and the barrel bomb preparation that needs coal planning. Talk to Lathas before you try to push west, or the forest gatekeeping will confuse you.

Crystal weapon shops and later mourner/elf quests assume this is done. It is infrastructure disguised as assassination.

Requirements and Prerequisites

Skill and quest gates below are taken from the OSRS Wiki quest-details block for this quest. Boostability notes follow the Wiki markers — if a level is unboostable, train it before you start.

Quest prerequisites (chains can be longer than this summary):

If the Wiki lists alternate item unlocks instead of a skill (for example a gas mask instead of Slayer), either option is valid.

Items to Bring

Pack required items before the first travel segment. Recommended gear is comfort, not a hard gate, unless a fight forces a specific style.

Required

  • 5 coal in the bank (although at least 25 is recommended; you may bring the coal noted to save you a bank trip)
  • Bow and some arrows (or lit fire arrows if you already have some.)
  • 2 ropes (3 in case you fail)
  • Spade
  • Limestone (or a pickaxe and Mining 10+). Note that limestone bricks will not work.
  • Tinderbox
  • Strip of cloth (made on a loom with 4 balls of wool; not a bolt of cloth - you can use the loom at the Iorwerth Camp or at the Falador farm)
  • Pestle and mortar
  • Gloves, the list on Quicklime shows all gloves that work.
  • Pot (obtainable during quest)
  • Cooked rabbit (obtainable during quest) or roast rabbit

Recommended

  • Combat 60
  • Some antidote++ or antipoisons
  • Stamina potions and weight-reducing gear (such as Boots of Lightness or the Graceful outfit)
  • At least 3 Summer pies to boost Agility for several obstacles, and to recover health from the traps
  • Ranged, Magic or a Halberd to safespot the Tyras Guard
  • Coins to buy food in the Underground Pass
  • Any axe to cook the raw rabbit anywhere
  • Fast travel to Rimmington such as Rimmington teleport tablets, Teleport to House if your house is in Rimmington, Ring of the elements, Falador teleport, or Explorer's Ring 2 or higher.
  • Fast travel to the Underground Pass (West Ardougne teleport or travel from East Ardougne)
  • OPTIONAL: Your Iban's staff or its upgraded counterpart in order to recharge it for free by using it on the well during the Underground Pass section

Ultimate Ironmen should split heavy deliveries across trips where the Wiki notes that is allowed.

Where to Start

Starting location: Talk to King Lathas on the of Ardougne Castle.

Use the travel method that fits your unlocks — games necklace, fairy rings, spirit trees, carpets, or spellbook teleports — and keep a teleport out for deaths during combat sections.

Quest List blurb (paraphrased intent): Continuing the Plague City series, the Regicide Quest takes you beyond the 'Well of Voyage' to a new realm. King Lathas will employ you once again, this time for the grim task of disposing of his brother. Upon travelling to the realm you will find yourself surrounded by new and s…

Walkthrough, Stage by Stage

Numbered steps follow the Wiki quick-guide order, rewritten for BILS readers. Dialogue choices that gate progress are called out inline. For puzzle tiles or randomised layouts, use the dedicated puzzles section and the Wiki map if a step still feels unclear.

  1. Back through the Underground Pass. Speak with King Lathas in Ardougne Castle. (dialogue: I assume you have a plan? → Yes.)
  2. Note: You can start this quest by talking to King Lathas directly after the completion of Underground Pass.
  3. Travel through the Underground Pass, entering on the far west side of West Ardougne. Refer to Underground Pass/Quick guide if you become stuck.
  4. Search the abandoned equipment next to the fire for the cloth. Use the cloth on your arrows, light them, and use your bow and lit arrows to open the gate.
  5. Take a plank to the north, if you did not bring one. Head south, then east, crossing the gap with a rope while ignoring the water.
  6. Cross the grid using the same pattern you did before. Pull the lever.
  7. Search the odd markings to bypass traps, then go directly down the well. You do not need to re-collect the four orbs of light for the furnace.
  8. Dig the loose dirt in the first southern cage, cross the ledge, and take the swamp shortcut (with 50 Thieving) or traverse the maze.
  9. Go south and squeeze through the pipe, pass through the tunnel, and head north-east where the paladins were.
  10. Use a plank on the flat rocks. Open the doors. Optional: Charge your Iban's staff or Iban's staff (u) at the Flames of zamorak well just before entering the large area with Iban's Temple, if you brought either one.
  11. Travel south to Iban's Temple and enter the well (optional: talk to Koftik for some free food).
  12. Exit the cave to the west.}}
  13. Traversing Isafdar. Run west through the forest, then talk to Idris when he spawns (this may take a little while).
  14. Follow the map to Lord Iorwerth.
  15. Run south-west, jump the leaves trap (click the middle square closest to you).
  16. Run west, pass through the sticks trap. (For this stick trap, and any stick traps you may encounter during this quest, simply stand one square in front of the trap and spam-click the trap until your character moves over it. This will negate all damage from the trap.)
  17. Follow the path north-west, jump the leaves trap, and continue north until you reach the Iorwerth Camp. Cross the Log Balance to reach it.
  18. Speak with Lord Iorwerth.
  19. Follow the map to the Elf Tracker.
  20. Run back the way you came and run south-east once you reach the Sticks trap (do not go through the sticks trap).
  21. Continue through the remaining mid-quest objectives in order (see the OSRS Wiki quick guide for the exact mid-section checklist if you get stuck).
  22. Use the pot of quicklime and ground sulphur on the barrel of naphtha to make a barrel bomb (unfused).
  23. Use the strip of cloth on the barrel bomb (unfused) to make a barrel bomb.
  24. Royal assassination. Go through the Underground Pass once more. Bringing summer pies this time is highly recommended because you are now carrying a very heavy barrel bomb.
  25. If you did not bring your own cooked rabbit, kill one north-west of the Elf Tracker and cook it. If you forgot an axe, there is a fire in the Iorwerth Camp.
  26. Head to the catapult, north of the Tyras Camp.
  27. If you did not bring a tinderbox, go south to Quartermaster's general store and purchase a tinderbox before you give the guard near the catapult the cooked rabbit.
  28. Use the cooked rabbit on the guard near the catapult.
  29. Use the bomb on the catapult.
  30. Speak with Lord Iorwerth.
  31. Lord Iorwerth's message. Attempt to enter Ardougne Castle.
  32. Speak with King Lathas.
  33. Finish the closing dialogue — the quest is complete.

If a mid-quest fight sends you to your respawn, return with the same key items — several quests do not store progress for partially completed combat.

Puzzles and How They Work

Puzzle sections in modern quests are often randomised per account. The table below covers the puzzle types you should expect; exact tile solutions belong on the Wiki when they change per player.

Puzzles in this quest

Skip this section emotionally if the quest is combat-only — still skim for any mid-quest door puzzles.

Boss Fights

Combat encounters listed on the Wiki quest-details block. Death usually means a run-back with lost unprotected items outside safe instances — check each fight before you commit expensive gear.

Item-loss risk: standard death rules apply unless the quest instance is a safe minigame-style fight. Do not bring items you cannot afford to lose into dangerous multi-combat areas.

Common Mistakes and Warnings

Regicide stalls on chemistry items and forest fails.

  • Entering dense forest without speaking to King Lathas to actually start the mission.
  • Bringing too little coal for the bomb barrel process.
  • Skipping antipoison and dying to Tirannwn trash on the commute.
  • Under-boosting Agility for 56-adjacent obstacles.
  • Forgetting fire arrows and a bow for the relevant pass revival steps.
  • Fighting the level 110 encounter without a safespot or Protect from Melee plan.

Ironman Notes

Coal can be noted for transport — still stage more than the minimum five.

Summer pies remain the standard forest fail insurance.

Keep a Tirannwn teleport plan for post-quest life; you will return often.

FAQ

Does Regicide unlock Tirannwn?

It is the key story unlock for operating west of the pass.

Do I have to redo Underground Pass?

You traverse it again with Regicide context — prior knowledge helps enormously.

What items fail people most?

Coal counts, antipoison, and Agility boosts.

Is combat heavy?

There is a level 110 fight; the forest is still the larger time sink.

What is next?

Mourning's End line and eventually Song of the Elves.

Bottom Line

Start with Lathas, overpack coal and antipoison, then treat Tirannwn obstacles as the real boss.

Essential elf-chain progression — worth services if forest fails are burning your boost supply.
