Overview: Gauntlet Content

The Gauntlet is 3 entries in our index: the preparation phase demi-bosses, and the Hunllef fight that the preparation exists to survive. Everything is unlocked by Song of the Elves and everything is solo.

What makes the Gauntlet unusual is that the fight is decided before it starts. Your gear is crafted inside the instance from resources you gather under a timer, so a bad preparation phase means a Hunllef fight you cannot win regardless of skill.

The Two Halves

Preparation is a resource route you can practise without risk — a failed run costs time, not items. That makes it the cheapest thing in the game to get good at, and the highest-leverage.

What Each Encounter Tests

The Gauntlet encounters do not test the same thing, which is why gear that carries you through one can leave you stuck on another. Each fight's defining demand:

Crystalline Hunllef — Tornado and floor reading

Crystalline Hunllef is rated 4 out of 5 and normally fought solo. Access needs Song of the Elves, and the drop worth going for is Crystal armour seeds, enhanced crystal weapon seed.

Corrupted Hunllef — Corrupted tornado discipline

Corrupted Hunllef is rated 5 out of 5 and normally fought solo. Access needs Song of the Elves, and the drop worth going for is Higher enhanced seed rate, blade of saeldor.

Normal Versus Corrupted

The corrupted version has the same structure with tighter timings and a harder Hunllef. It is covered in the corrupted Gauntlet guide. Learn normal first; the routes transfer.

Beginner Strategy: Your First Ten Runs

A first Gauntlet run costs you nothing but the ten minutes it took, which makes it one of the few pieces of endgame content you can genuinely practise. Spend the first several runs on normal, and treat prep and the fight as two separate skills to learn.

1. Learn one prep route and repeat it. The dungeon layout is random but the resource types are not, so a fixed shopping list beats improvising.
2. Watch the 10 minute timer rather than the room count. Running out teleports you into the fight with whatever you have.
3. Learn the Hunllef's attack cycle before worrying about damage. It opens with Ranged and swaps standard attack style every fourth attack, so you always know what is coming next.
4. Learn the other cycle too: every sixth off-prayer hit you land makes it change protection prayer. Counting your own hits is how you stop it praying against you.
5. Never stand under it. Being beneath the Hunllef triggers a stomp that hits very hard and does not count toward its four-attack cycle.
6. Keep moving off highlighted tiles. They light blue first, then turn orange, and standing on orange keeps damaging you until you step away.
7. Play with game sounds on. Its prayer-disabling attack has its own sound cue, and that cue is the only reliable warning.

Tornadoes are a timing problem, not a positioning puzzle. Each one despawns after 20 ticks — twelve seconds — and the number summoned grows as the Hunllef loses health, so late phases are about outlasting them rather than outrunning them.
