OSRS Perilous Moons Guide: Requirements and Walkthrough — Bils Services

Perilous Moons introduces Cam Torum and unlocks the Moons of Peril encounter. Master difficulty, Medium length, and a 48 Slayer start gate.

Overview

Perilous Moons is the Varlamore Master quest that opens Cam Torum and the Moons of Peril boss loop. If you want blue, blood and eclipse armour farming, this is the door.

The quest itself is Medium length with a sulphur nagua combat beat and dwarven settlement setup. Forty-eight Slayer is an unboostable start requirement — soft accounts hit that wall before any moon mechanic.

Once complete, shift to the Moons of Peril hub for rotation supplies and armour goals. The quest teaches access; the farm guide teaches profit.

If the Wiki lists alternate item unlocks instead of a skill (for example a gas mask instead of Slayer), either option is valid.

Items to Bring

Pack required items before the first travel segment. Recommended gear is comfort, not a hard gate, unless a fight forces a specific style.

Required

  • Knife (obtainable during quest)
  • Big fishing net (obtainable during quest)
  • Rope (obtainable during quest)
  • Pestle and mortar (obtainable during quest)
  • Combat equipment for multiple PvM encounters.

Recommended

  • Combat 75
  • 60+ Attack, Strength, and Defence
  • Hunter 50/Cooking 60 for Cooked moss lizard/Cooked bream health scaling
  • Herblore 55 for Moonlight potion scaling
  • Some form of energy regeneration
  • Antipoison, if below Combat 100, for aggressive Grimy lizards
  • 5 empty inventory spaces (for building supplies)
  • 10 quetzal feed, 4 soft clay, 3 limestone bricks (to build a landing site for the Quetzal Transport System)

Ultimate Ironmen should split heavy deliveries across trips where the Wiki notes that is allowed.

Where to Start

Starting location: Talk to Zuma or Attala at the entrance to Cam Torum.

Use the travel method that fits your unlocks — games necklace, fairy rings, spirit trees, carpets, or spellbook teleports — and keep a teleport out for deaths during combat sections.

Quest List blurb (paraphrased intent): Beneath the steep and jagged cliffs of Ralos' Rise sits the dwarven town of Cam Torum. Its strong fortifications have kept it safe through all of Varlamore's history... but now the inhabitants face a new challenge. Lurking below the surface is an ancient temple, built to contain …

Walkthrough, Stage by Stage

Numbered steps follow the Wiki quick-guide order, rewritten for BILS readers. Dialogue choices that gate progress are called out inline. For puzzle tiles or randomised layouts, use the dedicated puzzles section and the Wiki map if a step still feels unclear.

  1. Walkthrough. Speak to Attala near the temple entrance at the southern base of Ralos' Rise to start the quest.
  2. Climb the rocks to the north-east (requires 47 agility) or walk back up Ralos' Rise and kill the Sulphur Nagua at the south-east ledge.
  3. Return to Attala. Cross the drawbridge and enter Cam Torum.
  4. Go directly north and attempt to speak with Jessamine. A guard will interrupt you. Speak with Jessamine in the northern part of the city. (dialogue: ).
  5. Pass through the entrance to the north into the Neypotzli dungeon.
  6. Speak to Attala, Zuma, and Jessamine, in that order.
  7. Take from the crate of building supplies just west of Jessamine. You will receive a hammer, saw, and three Building supplies.
  8. You will need to build the three camp sites by going through the various entrances in the corners of the dungeon. Note that camp spots are marked on your mini map as a cooking range icon:
  9. Ancient Prison
  10. Pass through the south-western entrance in the dungeon
  11. Be aware of the level 98 Sulphur Nagua in this area. Protect from Melee will negate damage.
  12. Run south, then west, then north through the large hallway to the north-west corner
  13. Build the camp spot and return back to the Antechamber. You will need to go back the way you came in.
  14. Streambound Cavern
  15. Pass through the north-eastern entrance in the dungeon
  16. Go north, then east across the bridge. Follow the trail up the south stairs. The camp spot is just south of the stairs.
  17. Build the camp spot and return back to the Antechamber. You will need to go back the way you came in.
  18. Earthbound Cavern
  19. Pass through the north-western entrance in the dungeon
  20. Follow the trail west then south down the stairs.
  21. Continue through the remaining mid-quest objectives in order (see the OSRS Wiki quick guide for the exact mid-section checklist if you get stuck).
  22. The Blood Moon uses two special attacks:
  23. Raining Blood - The Moon will disappear and rain blood from above, forming pools of blood throughout the room. Move off of the blood pools on the floor to avoid standing on them.
  24. Blood Jaguar - Blood jaguars spawn around the room, along with a damaging square of blood pools. Run to Eyatlalli's glyph and attack the jaguar. Damage taken by stepping onto the pool too early or not stepping out of the jaguar's attack range will heal the Blood Moon for 3x the damage taken.
  25. The Eclipse Moon
  26. Note: This boss is weak to stab
  27. Enter the north-eastern chamber and follow the path to the boss entrance.
  28. The Eclipse Moon uses two special attacks:
  29. Eclipse Shield - The Moon will spawn a moon shield and begins attacking rapidly with rays of light. Keep the moon shield between you and the boss to prevent damage from the attacks. The shield will move quickly around the boss in a circle.
  30. Mimic - You are teleported to the centre of the room and frozen in place. Clones of the Moon will spawn around you, attacking you. You must face your character toward each clone as it spawns to prevent damage. One method is to click the tile below each clone as it spawns. Reacting to the clone has no delay so it is advised to use your strongest weapon (Crystal Halberd), no matter the speed.
  31. After defeating the three Moons, return to the Antechamber.
  32. Speak to all three in the Antechamber.
  33. Speak to Eyatlalli to finish the quest.

If a mid-quest fight sends you to your respawn, return with the same key items — several quests do not store progress for partially completed combat.

Puzzles and How They Work

Puzzle sections in modern quests are often randomised per account. The table below covers the puzzle types you should expect; exact tile solutions belong on the Wiki when they change per player.

Skip this section emotionally if the quest is combat-only — still skim for any mid-quest door puzzles.

Boss Fights

Item-loss risk: standard death rules apply unless the quest instance is a safe minigame-style fight. Do not bring items you cannot afford to lose into dangerous multi-combat areas.

Common Mistakes and Warnings

Most delays are travel and Slayer gates, not the nagua.

  • Attempting to start under 48 Slayer.
  • Skipping a quetzal landing site near Cam Torum and paying the run tax forever.
  • Under-gearing the sulphur nagua because the quest is labelled Medium length.
  • Confusing this quest page with the post-quest Moons farm guide.
  • Arriving without Varlamore transport unlocked and burning the session on walking.
  • Banking the wrong style after the story shifts into the peril encounter unlock.

Ironman Notes

Slayer 48 is the real iron gate — finish it before you schedule the quest.

Build the Cam Torum landing site early; repeat trips for the boss farm start immediately after.

Combat around 75 is the comfort recommendation for a clean first clear.

FAQ

Does Perilous Moons unlock Moons of Peril?

Yes — quest completion is the access gate.

Is 48 Slayer boostable?

No.

Is this the armour farming guide?

No. Use the Moons of Peril hub for supplies, rotation and drops.

How long is the quest?

Medium, assuming Varlamore travel is already online.

Do I need high combat?

75 combat is the wiki comfort line; lower is possible with care.

Bottom Line

Get 48 Slayer, finish the Cam Torum story, then move straight into the moons farm hub.

Quest services make sense if the unlock is the only blocker before armour grinding.
