OSRS Sarachnis Guide: Gear, Prayer Switching, Mechanics & Drops — Bils Services

Sarachnis guide built around prayer switching, mid-game gear, and consistent KC.

Overview: Sarachnis at a Glance

Sarachnis is a full boss in the beginner boss group, rated 2 out of 5 in our boss index and normally fought solo or team.

There is no skill or quest gate on Sarachnis — Forthos Dungeon. That makes it available far earlier than its difficulty rating suggests, so the limiting factor is your combat stats rather than an unlock.

Prayer switching under pressure is what this fight actually asks of you, and it is the thing standing between you and sarachnis cudgel.

Its own attacks are melee and ranged, so Protect from Melee and Missiles both have a job.

In our index it sits in the beginner boss group at difficulty 2 of 5, where kill times come down to prayer switching under pressure.

Location and How to Get There

Sarachnis is found in the Forthos Dungeon, in a burial tomb south of the Spider Den.

Get to the Forthos Ruin in Hosidius and take the dungeon entrance, then head south past the Spider Den. A Xeric's talisman or the Kourend teleport makes this a short trip, which matters because Sarachnis is content you repeat a lot.

Where Sarachnis Sits in Progression

Within the beginner boss group, the fights below Sarachnis are Gemstone Crab and Brutus (the Cow Boss). Nothing in the beginner boss group is harder, which makes Sarachnis the ceiling for this cluster.

Fight Strategy: Prayer switching under pressure

  1. Prayers on before you are in range.
  2. Pray Protect from Melee and Missiles as it switches.
  3. Its lowest defence bonus is against crush.
  4. Its 4-tick speed punishes greed.
  5. Bank before a 31 can erase you.
  • Prayer switches are the whole lesson
  • Bring enough restores for mistakes
  • Good bridge before Zulrah-style bosses
  • Drops fund mid-game upgrades
  • Record your first 10 deaths causes

Drops and What Sarachnis Is Worth

Drops worth the trip: Sarachnis cudgel, strong herb and seed loot. Whether that is worth your time depends on how many kills an hour you personally get, which is a function of prayer switching under pressure rather than of your gear list.

Combat Achievements

Sarachnis has Combat Achievement tasks. With a 31 max hit the restrictions are mostly about execution rather than survival.

Task lists move with updates — read the current list in game.

Ironman Notes

Slayer masters who assign Sarachnis: Turael, Spria, Konar, Nieve, Duradel. Each kill is 430 Slayer XP.

Without a Grand Exchange, sarachnis cudgel, strong herb and seed loot has to be earned rather than bought, and this is the fastest table it sits on.

Common Mistakes and Death Causes

  • Ignoring that prayer switches are the whole lesson
  • Ignoring that bring enough restores for mistakes
  • Ignoring that good bridge before Zulrah-style bosses
  • Ignoring that drops fund mid-game upgrades
  • Buying an upgrade before prayer switching under pressure is consistent
  • Walking in before prayers are on

FAQ

What do I need to fight Sarachnis?

None (Forthos Dungeon)

Which protection prayer should I use at Sarachnis?

It attacks with melee, ranged, so pray against that.

How hard does Sarachnis hit?

Max hits of 31, with 400 hitpoints.

Where is Sarachnis and how do I get there?

The Forthos Dungeon, in a burial tomb south of the Spider Den. Get to the Forthos Ruin in Hosidius and take the dungeon entrance, then head south past the Spider Den. A Xeric's talisman or the Kourend teleport makes this a short trip, which matters because Sarachnis is content you repeat a lot.

Is Sarachnis worth doing?

Yes, for what it drops — Sarachnis cudgel, strong herb and seed loot — if you want that specific reward. It is not a general money maker, and we do not publish a GP per hour figure for it because that number changes with the Grand Exchange.

What kills people at Sarachnis?

Prayer switches are the whole lesson

Bottom Line

Sarachnis is not a hard fight, so the thing worth optimising is the trip around it rather than the kill itself. Prayer switching under pressure matters, but travel time and supplies decide how much sarachnis cudgel you actually accumulate.

If Sarachnis is blocking a Combat Achievement or an unlock you actually want, our PvM service is done by hand — no automation. Otherwise the bosses list has the full index.

Sarachnis — Standalone, difficulty 2/5. Combat values here — hitpoints, max hits, attack styles and speed, Defence and Magic levels, immunities and Slayer requirements — were read from the Old School RuneScape Wiki infobox for Sarachnis on 2026-08-03. Kill rates, GP per hour and item prices are deliberately absent because they move with balance patches and the Grand Exchange.
